Wolfgang Wieser’s 1959 monograph describes the nematodes and other microscopic animals of Puget Sound beaches, and is still cited as the original description source for named species.
The story
Wolfgang Wieser’s study surveys free-living nematodes and other microscopic invertebrates of the beaches around Washington State’s Puget Sound. It is volume 19 of the University of Washington Publications in Biology (Seattle, 1959): field observations, taxonomic descriptions, ecological data and a long series of line drawings. The record says it continues to be cited in the marine zoology literature as an original description source for named nematode species.
The copy has its own story. It is bound in green institutional cloth, probably a library rebinding of an originally softcover issue, and carries a WITHDRAWN stamp and a dated circular stamp reading FEB 1989 whose institution has not been read. The record does not say which library withdrew it.
