Pareto’s sociology, chosen and explained by S. E. Finer
A selection from Vilfredo Pareto’s sociological writings, translated by Derick Mirfin, with S. E. Finer’s introduction to his life, his times and his system.
The story
Sociological Writings is a selection rather than a single book of Vilfredo Pareto’s: S. E. Finer chose the passages, and Derick Mirfin translated them into English. Finer’s introduction comes first and works as a guide in five parts: the climate of opinion Pareto wrote in, a summary of his life, how his system developed, the system itself, and a critique and assessment of it. The selections from Pareto follow.
The edition first came out in 1966 from Pall Mall Press. This is the reprint published in the United States in 1976 by Rowman and Littlefield of Totowa, New Jersey, and printed in Great Britain.
