The sport of shooting and deer stalking, in an edition of a thousand
Compiled by “The Sportsman” and published in London in 1913 with photogravures, it records the practices and personalities of game shooting and deer stalking.
The story
An oversized 1913 British sporting history with photogravures, originally issued in a numbered edition of one thousand copies.
Compiled and edited by “The Sportsman” and published in London, the volume records the practices and personalities of game shooting and deer stalking in early-twentieth-century Britain. A portrait frontispiece of King George V and photographic illustrations document the social world of sporting estates, clubs, and field sports. This particular copy is numbered 355 of the 1,000-copy edition and retains an engraved “Ex Libris Spencer Eddy” bookplate depicting a dog. Another set from the same publishing series is offered separately with a bookplate bearing that name, suggesting a possible shared library association; the bookplate owner's biographical identity is not established.
